Compassion Fund

“There is Nothing More Courageous than Compassion”

With encouragement from our giving community and several generous donations from our supporters, Community Life Services is proud to announce the establishment of our Compassion Fund!

Our Compassion Fund is being established to help those in our Community Life community who are facing a significant need for support, outside of the scope of client services we offer. The intention of our Compassion Fund is to provide direct financial assistance, with few obstacles, to the people we support who are in the most need.

Our Compassion Fund will offer a source of funding for those facing financial hardships which may preclude them from successfully integrating into the quickly changing landscape {environment} outside of Community Life. Funding of such necessities will be directed by a Resource {comfort, benefit} Committee comprised of one Specialist and one {client we serve} from each of our offices, and will be guided by our Supervisors of those offices.

Support Requests
Support Requests will be carefully considered by our Resource Committee. Community Life Services clients will have the opportunity to make such requests in writing, which will then be submitted to the Resource Committee for review. The request may be for financial support for an item of purchase for themselves or their family members. All requests will be considered and objectively reviewed by our Resource Committee, and the amount of recommended financial assistance granted will be determined by them.

Parameters for Requests
Our Resource Committee will meet virtually twice per month to review requests and make recommendations to our Management Team for the disbursement of funds. Priority will be given to those who do not have access to other funding sources.

At this time, we do not foresee significant constraints on the type of requests we will consider except for a $200 purchase limit on each request. All needs will be carefully considered by our Resource Committee and requests will be approved on a first-come, first-served basis.

Examples of Needs
We understand that many of the people we serve have significant needs and their needs are inherent to them and their families. The list is not restrictive, but examples of such needs may include the following:
• One-time purchase of electronic equipment
• Gift cards for multi-month internet services/phone services
• Gift cards for basic safety necessities
• Purchase of educational supplies or materials
• Purchase online classes
• Support with purchasing interview attire
• Support with purchasing employment equipment/attire
• Support with purchasing emergency supplies

Management Team will Review all Committee Requests
Community Life’s Management Team will review all funding requests made by the Resource Committee and will give final permission for disbursing the funds.

Requesting Support
Individuals who would like to request support from the Compassion Fund may do so with the help of their families or their Specialist via letter or email. Please direct inquiries to Compassion Fund Request.

Time frame
Purchases for support will be disbursed twice per month, based on need.

Delivery of Support
Once approved, Community Life’s Executive Director will procure all purchases on behalf of the Compassion Fund and will deliver the benefit directly to the client and/or their family members. Community Life Services will not disburse the benefit in monetary form.
